Faith Is…
Every Sat/Sun 8 AM ET
We believe God wants us to understand the Bible. So we’ll approach the Bible with eager anticipation, confident that God will show us the truth. Then, he’ll show us how to live in these sometimes confusing and discouraging times. Join us as we make the complicated simple, cooperate with grace, and stretch toward God’s high calling.
Every week we’ll take a fresh look at the Bible and discover that Faith Is . . . absolute confidence in the trustworthiness of God.
Born a Buckeye in southwestern Ohio, Pastor Rick Stevens has served churches from Oklahoma to New Brunswick, Canada. He has been a pastor, youth pastor, and church music director. Since January of 1997, he has been the pastor of Diplomat Wesleyan Church in Cape Coral, FL. He is married to Jan and has two children and four grandchildren. His most unusual travel experience was visiting the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Station in Ukraine; the site of the world’s worst nuclear power accident.
FAITH IS… with Pastor Rick Stevens – The First Amendment and our religious freedom are under attack. A citizen was forcibly removed from a Florida school board meeting because they didn’t like what he was saying. Outrageous because he was simply reading from a book available in one of their middle schools. Your children need you to stand up for them! Maybe that’s God’s test for our generation. God tested his people, and their…
FAITH IS… with Pastor Rick Stevens – My head’s exploding because your children need your help. Pay attention to what’s happening in your child’s school, and if necessary, don’t back down. Protect them! Your children are counting on you even though they don’t know how to tell you they need help. In the same way, God is counting on you to opt into faithfulness. When God provided quail and manna for his people, it was a test. He…
FAITH IS… with Pastor Rick Stevens – Is it possible that the problems we face could be a setup? By that, I mean, could God have set up the circumstances on purpose? And if he caused the problem, could he be planning the solution? Certainly, we cause some of our problems. We’re pretty good at that. But what if we approached our problems with absolute confidence in the trustworthiness of God. Might he then make us partners in…
FAITH IS… with Pastor Rick Stevens – Imagine God standing guard over your household all night. He did this for his people on the night before they left Egypt. God kept his promise to Moses and delivered his people from the evil of slavery. Today, we are the leaders we’re looking for. God has called us and given us the responsibility to protect and defend liberty. To follow his instructions and lead our world into a better tomorrow. Moses…
FAITH IS… with Pastor Rick Stevens – Oliver Anthony’s lament reminds me that we all long for a better world. The Bible says a better world is coming. Do you believe it? Do you want it to be true? God wanted a much better world for his people trapped in slavery. So he spoke to Moses and told him to go lead them out of Egypt. Moses responded with excuses! How many of us respond to God with excuses? Moses eventually went…
FAITH IS… with Pastor Rick Stevens – We believe in the rule of law and respecting the law. But is there ever a time when we break the law to obey God? There has been, and there might be again. Consider the Hebrew midwives. They defied the king! Consider a father, mother, and sister. They defied the king! Do you obey God or human authority?
FAITH IS… with Pastor Rick Stevens – We live in a world where people regularly tell us what they want us to hear. In other words, they lie. We live in a world where people refuse to listen to the truth. They only want to hear what they want to hear! Today let’s hear from God. He spoke loudly in Joseph’s circumstances. He often speaks just as loudly in our circumstances. The question for us is will we trust Him? Will we have faith and absolute…
FAITH IS… with Pastor Rick Stevens – Then learn from Jacob and his family as they become the heirs of God’s covenant. They aren’t perfect, and selling their brother into slavery is just one example, but God isn’t finished with them. God knows, and God redeems even the worst nonsense. If you’re willing to consider confidence in God or if you’re struggling…
FAITH IS… with Pastor Rick Stevens – This week we explore the relationship between Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Then we take a leap to discover the stunning turn of events that lead Jacob to become Israel. Jacob, now Israel, became the heir of the covenant. By prevailing with the touch of God, Jacob’s life changed beyond anything we could imagine…
FAITH IS… with Pastor Rick Stevens – Too many people worry about sin and live in defeat that they don’t measure up to what God expects. Listen for God’s suggestion and stretch in His direction. This is Instant Sermon week, where we ask and answer the important question people ask. Like, if God could easily beat Satan, why hasn’t he done it already?
FAITH IS… with Pastor Rick Stevens – Why is the church silent? We’ll talk about some of the reasons for church silence. More importantly, we’ll talk about what we can do to encourage pastors and people to speak up for God! We must not be silent! It’s too easy to retreat from the conversation. It’s too easy to make it someone else’s problem…
FAITH IS… with Pastor Rick Stevens – Finally, some clarity on transgender ideology. God told us all we really need to know in the first chapter of Genesis. The creation story gives us insight and understanding to sort out today’s transgender confusion. God is very clear. He created us in His image as male and female…
FAITH IS… with Pastor Rick Stevens – How did our Founders think about God, and what role did that play in their decisions? The answer may surprise you. They should encourage and embolden you! John Quincy Adams described the principles of civil government and the principles of Christianity as connected. I agree, and that’s why we need a rebirth of…

Live the Ten Commandments
Cultural Wars, Faith
FAITH IS… with Pastor Rick Stevens – People have been, they are, and they will be again outraged that the Ten Commandments aren’t posted here, there, and everywhere. Those battles have been fought, and they will be fought again. And they should be. Let’s post the Ten Commandments and follow them. As we examine God’s top ten, let’s learn what they mean and what God expects. At the same time, let’s renew our commitment to…
