The Constitution Study
Weekdays 4 PM ET
The American people, through ignorance and apathy, have lost their love for their rights and liberties. Our rights are trampled daily by governments, universities, the media, and businesses both large and small. Yet the vast majority of Americans not only bow to the pressure to relinquish their rights, they frequently ask for them to be taken. What are we to do?
Since 2014 Paul Engel has been helping everyday Americans read and study the Constitution of their country and teaching the rising generation to be free. In this program, Paul uses news and current events as a springboard to help explain the Constitution and encourage others to stand up for their rights, their children’s rights, and those of the nation.
The goal of this program is to help everyday people defend their rights by reading, studying, and understanding the supreme law of the land, the Constitution of the United States of America. Author and speaker, Paul Engel has spent more than 20 years studying and teaching about both the Bible and the U.S. Constitution. That experience helps Paul explain difficult concepts in a way most people can understand. As one manager described, “Paul can take the most complex idea and explain it in a way my grandmother can understand.”
The Constitution Study with Host Paul Engel – Have you ever noticed how often it is the well-educated that come up with the dumbest ideas? How often do we see ideas coming out of colleges and universities that just ignore reality yet keep on going? That’s not to say that colleges and universities don’t have their place. I want my doctor, engineer, and architect to have studied the realities they need to keep healthy and safe. And…
The Constitution Study with Host Paul Engel – We often talk about freedom of speech and freedom of the press because they are important. But it’s not the speech or press that are truly important, but what they represent, the expression of thought. This explains why tyrants often try to squelch the expression of ideas they don’t like. To quote Benjamin Franklin, writing as Silence Dogood: “Without Freedom of Thought, there…
The Constitution Study with Host Paul Engel – Just when you thought it was safe to go about your life, the lies come back to destroy your liberty. I wonder, which shocks you more, the arrogance of these institutions, which fail to learn from their mistakes, or the refusal of the American people to wake up to their failures. COVID-19, wildfires, and safe drinking water are just a few examples of the lies we’ve been told and the consequences…
The Constitution Study with Host Paul Engel – We’ve all seen that child, the one who whines and complains until they get their way. Most of us shake our heads in disgust, some at the child and others at the adults who refuse to act like parents. What does that say about some of our social and political discourse today? We watch as children like Greta Thunberg and David Hogg use emotion rather than reason to tell us how we…
The Constitution Study with Host Paul Engel – How you define success is important. Most people think there is a common and fixed definition of success, but our Founding Fathers knew better. Liberty recognizes that we all have different goals and, therefore, different ideas of success. For example, one of my successes is owning a decent-sized farm near the middle of nowhere, while my cousin has succeeded in living in a good-sized…
The Constitution Study with Host Paul Engel – Famously, after the Constitutional Convention, Benjamin Franklin was asked what kind of government they had given us. His equally famous answer was, “A republic if you can keep it.” We were able to keep it for about 230 years, but now it appears the republic is dead! The United States has become a Police State where dissent is criminalized, political opponents are charged with fake crimes…
The Constitution Study with Host Paul Engel – I’ve known it for decades. First, it was a new ice age. Then it was global warming. When neither of those panned out, we had climate change, and now the Secretary-General of the United Nations says, “The era of global boiling has arrived.” What if this is all one giant hoax? What if all the money spent on solar farms, windmills, a collecting cow farts is just a scam? It seems few…
The Constitution Study with Host Paul Engel – A basic law of physics is that two physical bodies cannot simultaneously occupy the same space. But can two theories of politics be ascendant at the same time? There are those who believe in liberty and justice for all, while others believe it should be reserved for people who are special. Freedom of speech and censorship cannot coexist. Neither can justice and tyranny. Over the last few…
The Constitution Study with Host Paul Engel – It’s time to build a wall… But not the wall you’re probably thinking about. In the biblical book of Nehemiah, the residents of Jerusalem were under threat. Judah had been conquered by the Babylonians, and not only was Jerusalem raided, but its wall was destroyed, leaving it open to attack. Nehemiah, who was serving the king in Babylon, heard about the state of the wall in Jerusalem…
The Constitution Study with Host Paul Engel – With all the examples of freedom under attack, it’s nice to see a win every once and a while. I have talked briefly about the injunction against members of the Biden administration trying to censor information through social media. Recently, I’ve had the chance to delve deeper into the injunction, and what I found was pretty good. That’s not to say there aren’t plenty of examples…
The Constitution Study with Host Paul Engel – Back in school, we learned about taxation without representation. If it was good enough for the colonies to declare independence, shouldn’t it be good enough for us to change those we hire to represent us? The problem with taxation without representation is we pay the bills but have no say in the laws that create them. This is why Article I, Section 1 of the Constitution vests all…
The Constitution Study with Host Paul Engel – Do you ever wake up thinking the whole world has gone mad? I know things change over time, but really, how can you take a look at what’s going on and not think a significant portion of the population has gone crazy? You have supposedly intelligent people who can’t (or won’t) tell you what a woman is. You have parents fighting with teachers and school administrators about…
The Constitution Study with Host Paul Engel – Just when you think things can’t get any worse is usually when they do. Maybe it’s because, when things are bad, we are looking so hard for any solution we don’t stop to think if it’s actually better or not. It seems the need to do something often leads to doing the wrong thing. Either that or we figure we’ll just keep doing the same thing over and over again, hoping against hope that…
The Constitution Study with Host Paul Engel – There are plenty of sayings that express a similar idea: Back to square one, Back to the drawing board, Back to basics, & Coming full circle. They all involve going back to the beginning of something, usually to find a solution or at least something better than your current one. When you’re dealing with a problem, going back to where you started, then examining the decisions you made…
