Never in recent history has the threat of a third world war been so real and come from so many places.
China, Iran, Russia, and each for different reasons. China wants to rule the world and replace the United States as the global economic leader. Iran wants to rule the Middle East and destroy Israel. And Russia wants to rebuild the old Soviet Union and reabsorb the freed countries of Ukraine and beyond.
This is overly simplified, of course, because the world is a complicated place. But each of these countries is ready to begin a new world war to achieve their goals. The threat is real, and it may be imminent.
America, under the broken leadership of President Joe Biden and an egocentric and dysfunctional Democrat party, has lost its way as the head of the free world. We have squandered the advantage of being a world leader with a mission to champion freedom and justice.
We have lost it to the tyrants in Asia and the Middle East, for whom freedom means nothing, for whom life means nothing. Russia gives no thought to the murder of thousands of civilians in their war in Ukraine, fed by Russian greed for land and power. China gives no thought to the millions of Uyghurs and Falun Gong whom they imprison, enslave, torture, harvest organs from, and murder, or to their own citizens, whom they lock down and starve. And Iran gives no thought to the thousands of their own people whom they imprison, torture, and murder in cold blood.
The real leadership of the world today is up for grabs. Where will the next world war begin? It’s a jump ball.
The contest is already underway between democracy and freedom, and the tyranny of communism, socialism, and autocracy ⏤ without freedom. Under the administration of Joe Biden and the Democrats, the leadership role, and the example to the world that America has been for over two hundred years, has been lost in a mere year and a half. The pitiful weakness and lack of leadership that this administration has shown will change the balance of global power and bring the world to its knees in a few short years ⏤ unless it is stopped.
Three issues feed this threat: energy, the economy, and a thirst for war.
When Joe Biden canceled the XL pipeline from Canada on his first day in office, he rang a death knell for America’s energy independence. The ramifications from Biden’s shortsighted move went far beyond our local economy. Biden’s misbegotten policies impacted the entire world, and resulted in massive inflation and shortages of food and heating oil and gas for hundreds of millions of people in countries on every continent, just before winter hits the northern hemisphere.
There is no explanation that can justify the damage that Joe Biden’s administration has done to America alone in just over twenty months. The America that was more fully employed than ever before, where food was abundant, and energy independence made gasoline plentiful and affordable; this America is gone.
Joe Biden’s Congress has spent trillions of dollars on lame projects it cannot afford and put the country trillions of dollars in debt. The Fed is now raising interest rates at an astonishing 75 basis points at a time, and the country is preparing for a depression. The American economy is floundering, and rapidly rising inflation is racing around the world.
Biden’s foreign policy has not only become the laughing stock of foreign leaders. His weak policies and toothless threats are an open invitation to all three of the warrior countries that threaten the world.
In late 2021 and early 2022, when Russia staged 100,000 troops on the Ukrainian border, the world debated whether or not they would attack Ukraine. On December 31, President Biden “warned” Russia against an invasion. And while Russia denied it intended to invade Ukraine, it was the largest mobilization of troops in Europe in decades, and Russia used more than 2,000 rail cars to bring troops and weaponry to the Ukrainian border.
Then on February 24, Russian troops drove their columns of tanks into Ukraine and caused Europe’s largest refugee crisis since World War II, with more than seven million Ukrainians fleeing the country, and a third of the population displaced. Russia did not fear Joe Biden’s America. He wanted Ukraine at all costs.
China watched how Biden handled Russia’s Ukraine invasion and took it as an invitation to position itself for an invasion of Taiwan. Using a visit to the island nation by Speaker Nancy Pelosi as a trigger, China took on a new posture, threatening Taiwan with warplanes and navel ships firing live ammo, harassment that partially isolated the island for weeks following the visit.
Taipei has since reported China’s repeated harassment with drone flights. The build-up is reminiscent of the Russian build-up before it invaded Ukraine. But, unlike Putin, who denied an imminent invasion, China’s Xi Jinping does not deny his clear intention to invade Taiwan and fold the democratic island nation into Communist China. It’s only a matter of time, he says.
Iran has also been watching the Biden administration’s weak responses to the aggression of Russia and China. It has made its own threats against Israel, promising to annihilate the tiny Jewish state. It is already arming its proxy armies in Lebanon, Syria, and Gaza to attack Israel simultaneously while deploying nuclear missiles itself. Recent intelligence reports suggest that Iran already has as many as 25 nuclear missiles nearly ready to deploy.
China, Russia, and Iran are all nuclear powers, and all three have made credible threats. How will WWIII begin?
Russia has made the first move by invading Ukraine. But the war that was supposed to be over in less than a week, has now lasted seven months and is still going strong. Russia is not doing well. But Putin has a nuclear bomb – thousands in fact – and should he deploy even one, it could ignite a global conflict that no one will be able to stop.
China is building its own nuclear arsenal and is known to have at least 350 nuclear weapons, and they have been testing them. Since China has no concern about human life, they would have no compunction about launching a nuclear attack on Taiwan.
Iran has already threatened to use nuclear weapons on Israel. But Israel is also a nuclear power, although Israel is not a threat to any other country, unless it is under threat of imminent attack itself. But its tiny size would make it impossible to survive such an attack. so its only option is to attack preemptively, which it is ready to do.
The world is a gas leak in search of a flame. It will take only one small spark to ignite the globe. Where will it start? It doesn’t matter. What matters is where it will end.
The weakness of our government is an open invitation to the aggression of other countries. Unless America is somehow able to regain that inner strength that has guided us and protected us for two and a half centuries, we are facing a dark future in a dark world under tyranny that never learned the joy of personal liberty in a free society.
